Born and raised in Toronto, Canada where I still call home, I grew up with a deep love for books. Storytelling has always been at the heart of who I am—a way to explore the world, preserve memories, and connect with others.

AKEMI’S SONG is my debut children’s book, set to release on June 17 2025. I began writing this story in 2021 when the world felt uncertain and I found myself reconnecting with my family’s roots in Taiwan. I wanted the story to be uplifting- a celebration of resilience, courage, and self-discovery. Like Akemi, there is beauty and power in finding your voice and singing your own song.

This book is my love letter to Taiwan’s breathtaking natural landscapes and vibrant wildlife, woven together with cherished memories my family has carried through generations.

I can’t wait for you to read it soon.

Akemi’s Song

In the Alishan forest of Taiwan, flamecrest birds sing their personal songs of love, home, memory, and hope. This year, Akemi, a young flamecrest bird, has been selected to sing her special song on the Lunar New Year. But Akemi is unable to create her song.

Encouraged by her mother, Akemi sets off on a journey to learn more about herself. She travels through Taiwan’s beautiful landscape, from towering mountain peaks to narrow gorges and mirrored lakes. With each adventure, she discovers that her inner strength is reflected in the beauty of the natural environment, and she  finally has her song… one of confidence in herself, love for community, and appreciation for the beautiful world in which she lives.

“In the heart of the Alishan forest in Taiwan, birds are beginning to rise at the first light of day. A moment passes, and then they begin to sing… I listen to the songs that echo through the cypress trees. These songs are sung by Flamecrests like me, and we sing of home, love, and hope.”
